Geocaching fun and exercise

Wednesday, January 26, 2011

So I know I haven't been on here much, but I HAVE been pretty active lately. Still enjoying the geocaching, and just found my 500th cache on Monday. YAY!!

Lately we've been focused more on higher difficulty/terrain caches than just racking up the numbers with easy urban park and grabs, so my muscles have been getting a really good workout lately.

In one day alone, we went bike riding, hiking, walking, climbing rocks and I even got to climb a tree. WOOHOOO. Now that was fun. I haven't done that in a while, but my BF was joking that I must be part squirrel, because I shimmied up that tree before he even had time to look up. ROFLMAO!!

So, it's a new year, and I need to get new determination to get tracking my foods and exercise. Sparkpeople is set once again to my homepage (sorry Facebook), and I'll really try to keep up with blogging my adventures.

Here's some pictures from our recent geocaching excursions :) Hope you enjoy.

You make me think about getting a GPS to try it out. It sounds like so much fun.

FIVE HUNDRED is a great accomplishment. Yay YOU!!!!

I didn't know that you could do it without a GPS although I live in a pretty small town so not sure that google maps would be much help (most of the downtown area is pretty run down right now).

I will have to check it out though.

That's awesome! Glad you are having so much fun with it. I like it, but as usual have problems just going. I have 10 or 11. Can't image 500! now I have my new phone, I need to try again. I was hoping my son (11) would really like it, sorta like treasure hunting, but he didn't care much.

Anyway, sounds like you're doing great with exercising, now just need to watch your food, and you'll be set!

I dont have a GPS either, but I do use the iPhone app. Before I upgraded my phone I was looking for the ones in my neighborhood with google maps. It works for the city ones, not so much for the ones out on the trails though.

My boyfriend takes his 7 y/o son geocaching too. He LOVES it. Hiking is great, but having a goal to find secret treasure just makes it all that much more fun for me. LOL.

and thanks for the compliment. I REALLY enjoyed the tree climbing. it was my favorite cache all day :)

Looks like you had a GREAT time doing your hike/climb/bike for geocaching (I don't have a GPS so can't do it right now but I am hoping to get the whole family out hiking once the winter rain stops).

I love the pic of you up in the tree.
