Snake? Not in my house!!! (and other things)

Last night's blog got cut short because my stepson came home and announced "we are getting a snake." I am sure my eyes popped because I dislike snakes intensely, especially when he told me it is a python. When I told him I do not like snakes/fear them, his response was that we have to face our fears. I turned it back and said that it could injure someone; I do not want it in my house. Also, he would need to talk to his dad. So needless to say, I did not sleep well last night. This morning when I told my husband what was going to be brought up, he immediately said no way, for multiple reasons: my stepson's room is a pigsty 95% of the time; he hasn't taken care of his previous "pets"; he is hardly home; and he needs to focus on his school work.
Why is it that there are some guys at the gym that feel that they need to grunt with every exercise movement they do or drop the weight when they are done? I have myself plugged into my music, and it gets a little irritating to hear a grunt every few seconds of the song. Is it considered a "macho" thing to grunt with each movement otherwise he may not be lifting enough weight?
I so look forward to when spring truly arrives and the temperatures are warm enough that we can take walks in the evening again. I am really missing that. I have been trying to get some treadmill work at least 1 of the times during the week at the gym, but I much prefer outside walking because we go longer than I care to do on a treadmill.
I am glad it is Thursday, but wish it was Friday so I would have the weekend. Oh well, plug through the day. Take care everybody.
