Heart Test Results

Wednesday, March 23, 2011

My first ultrasound heart test showed a definite problem with the heart valve leaking. :(

Since there were so many drs listening to my heart everyday when I had mrsa (twice), they believe the damage to the heart valve was due to one of the five antibiotics I took to kill off the first mrsa.

I need a few more tests in the future to see if the damage is still progressing, but if it was caused by the antibiotics there shouldn't be any further damage. My fingers are crossed for good results on the next test :)

Now for the exercising: Do it, but don't overdo. Keep a close eye on the heart activity. Get the heart strong without overtaxing it. I had wanted to start jogging and had a willing partner lined up who is a diehard runner, but for now that will have to wait. Oh well, one step at a time.

They reviewed my weekly diet and it passed with flying colors!! Thank you SparkPeople & Clean Eating!

    Hi Jaozie!
Nothing will make the valve work better. Right now it's not bad enough to consider replacement (yikes) and we're just hoping it won't get worse. If the damage was caused by the antibiotics it *shouldn't* get worse -- maybe. Thanks for the reassurance, dr. haha :)

Oh my gosh...it's been a hard year for your health, hasn't it? Is there something they can do to strengthen that heart valve?

Congrats on the clean eating! I hope everything turns out well for you with your heart, I have a heart condition and know it can sometimes be challenging to do all the things you want to do when your body won't always cooperate! Slow and steady and you'll be jogging before you know it! emoticon
