"The emotional upset of failed perfectionism can make it virtually impossible to stay motivated."

This is a snippet from a SparkPeople article. I am a perfectionist. Perfectionists aren't perfect at all, but we set the standard of perfection for ourselves and if we don't meet that, then it's all-or-nothing. I realized that this is the wrong approach to weight loss. I have to remember to strive for excellence (which is attainable) rather than perfection, which is unattainable.
