Winter Wonderland!

Monday, February 05, 2007

Well, the snow continues to pile up here. I love it though, because I really enjoy shoveling and it's such a good workout! I've been excited, rushing out to shovel in the pretty snow...

I calculated my BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate or the # of cals your body needs to maintain it's weight if you were never to get out of bed. This site: www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-cal
culator/ is a great one to use. My BMR is 1395 cals. I like to use this number when I am planning out how much I can eat each day. You add your BMR + Cals burned through exercise and that is the cals you'd need to eat to maintain with working out.
ex. Today I ate 1499 cals. I burned 520 cals with pilates and running.
1395 (MY BMR) + 520 (cals I burned) = 1915

So 1915 - 1499 (cals I ate) = 416 (which is my calorie deficit for the day)

Pheewww! Does that make sense? Anyway, I really like using numbers like that, because it puts things into better perspective for me each day. Hope that it might be useful for someone else!

Tink... I did mine and my required calorie intake at sedentary level is even higher than what I eat right now! I don't know if I'm figuring wrong but if so, I should be dropping weight like CRAZY! hahahaha.
