First Impressions

Wednesday, April 06, 2011

Funny, when I was painting this piece, and subsequently "naming" the finished painting, It struck me that our perception of ourselves is what determines what we *think* other people are thinking of us.
There is a message in this painting...
that among the normal setting, we often fell like we are alone, or at least 'different' from everyone else.
So how can you relate to the singular Yellow flower in this piece?
Are you shy, and are* they* whispering about you?
Are you fully open to new ideas, and do you make yourself welcome to new surroundings?
If you could "title" this piece, what would it be?
Interestingly enough, the title you come up with will tell much about how you feel about yourself!
This is the job of an artist, to reflect their own feelings, and also present the feelings of the public in general.
By the way, the title of the blog entry is NOT the title of the painting!!
I let you know ... on my sparkpage in among my sparkpictures!
Blessings to you!!

    Dear MARINO 124 & INSHAPE 2011-

yes, MARINO, yellow IS for sunshine in this piece.
We are all the spark that enriches the lives of others. Sometimes we don't feel like it, and then we wonder all sorts of 'ill' thoughts about ourselves and the crowds around us. We need the spark of others to brighten our day. but you are so right, we are the SUNSHINE!! and INSHAPE, you are so right too... they are one big happy family!! We have so much to offer and it's up to us to bloom and grow where we are planted!!! Thank you for your wonderful comments!

I like art for the very reason you described... it is the product of the artists feelings but it can reach and touch so many different people in so many different ways. Especially paintings. There is no one interpretation that is wrong. I didn't even notice that the yellow flower was different to the rest at the start. All seemed like a happy family, hugging and looking after each other... I don't know what this says about me... probably that I am not observant but it could seem completely different to me tomorrow. Thanks for the thought provoking blog.

How sweet and beautiful it is! I loved what you had to say about the process and the relationship to our selves. My first thought was that it seems very playful to me, with the leaves stretching into other pots and the flowers so close together. I don't know that I have a good title, but that's the impression I see.
