Grocery shopping on an empty stomach
Wednesday, April 20, 2011
I came down to Oregon on business yesterday and I always stay in a suite when I'm here with a kitchen so of course I stopped at the store before checking in to do some shopping. Normally I don't do grocery shopping on an empty stomach, if I do I have a list, not this time.
As I walked through the store of course everything looked good and before I knew it I had a basket full of foods. Everything looked so good I decided to buy them all and headed back to the hotel. When I unpacked I looked at my haul and started making dinner. I had a problem, I have way too many veggies to eat while I'm here. I've done this before, apparently some lessons you have to repeat constantly, even positive mistakes. In order to munch my through grocery haul I steamed up broccoli, asparagus and brussell sprouts. I seasoned them with some of the garlic I bought and lemon juice and put them along my roasted chicken breast. For my nightly snack I popped grapes.
This morning I looked, the hotel offers breakfast but sitting in my fridge are grapefruit and yogurts. Down in the dinig area they are serving bacon and eggs I can smell it. My grapefruit and yogurt were yummy. :)
I remember when going shopping on an empty stomach meant coming home with tons of chips and cookies. Who knew eventually it could lead to brussell sprouts and brown rice.
