I am hurting today! My brothers gf wanted to start walking. We walked for the first time Monday night. It was bad, we walked like maybe 1/2-1 mile total. Stopping halfway at the park for the kids. We walk fast enough the 4 yr old has to run, to keep up. Poor kid. haha. Yesterday we walked for 30 mins in the morning with no kids. Then walked to the park again last night. I ran not far, but it was a good sprint.I dropped the leash and the dog took off lol. And then my bro's gf wanted to run down the road to our driveway, and UP our driveway. I almost croaked!! I swear to gosh, I am sooo sore. I didnt get up to walk this am, but I am going for sure tonight. I hope to beable to up how far and long our walks are, and run longer and farther. (ps, I HATE running with a passion. like not even funny, and can not force my body to do it)

so that's where I'm at. I just don't want to lose the motivation, like I always do.

Good for you! The big thing is that you're doing something! You're burning WAY more calories than if you were sitting on the couch.

Like Andrea mentioned, I did Couch to 5K last year. I've never been a runner, and I don't know that I'd say I am now. But you know what? I can do it, and that feels great (even though I, too, hate every step!)

Just keep at it. Certainly don't feel like you have to run now. I had been seriously focused, eating well, and exercising for more than 6 months before I started, so at least 25 lbs down from the start, maybe 30. My trainer told me once that when you run, you're putting 7 lbs of pressure on your legs for every 1 lb that you weigh. so if you take off even 10 lbs, it'll feel like a whole lot more. I think that's why I was more successful with running after I had lost a little weight.

Keep it up! You're doing great

YAY!!!! You won't as long as you keep the desire alive! That's what our little team is for!

You know, I'm with you kind of on the running front. I HATE it when I'm doing it, but when I'm done, I think: DANG....I just did that! I just RAN! And that good feeling at the end, when it's DONE is what keeps me going. lol.

Both J-La and I did the Couch to 5K plan (can be found on cool running.com) and I know 4 other people who have done it...NONE of us ever thought we'd be runners, yet here we are. It is a very gradual program that lasts 9 weeks.
