6 pounds from goal weight - but am I?

Monday, August 15, 2011

Today I weighed in at 141. My goal is 135. I'm 40 years old, 5 ft 2.5 inches (yes, that 1/2 inch counts!!) I'm now wondering if I should go lower ? On the BMI calculator at 135 I would still be about 24.5 which is at the top of normal. I feel like even though I've lost almost 35 pounds I am exactly the same "shape" as I was before, just smaller.

I guess that makes sense, why would my shape change? However, I still feel so fat ~ especially my thighs (always my problem area!) It's taken me over a year to lose the weight (well, I did get "off track" for about 5 months of that year) and I would just love to be able to say "I did it - I reached my goal". If I change my goal to say, 130, then it would just mean more time to reach that goal and I'm afraid I'll lose motivation. I'm also afraid I won't be able to stay at 130.

Anyone else feel this way? I thought I woud feel so great and skinny now and although I do feel alot better I also think I still have a long way to go....

I would focus on 135 and be proud and relish your achievement! THEN, if you feel like through eating right and exercising, you can get lower, then great! If not, you will still be healthy and active!

Lesson # 1 - learning to love yourself as is - then you will love yourself as you change.

If you're not sure about your goal weight - ride it out and see how you feel with maintaining for a while.
