Health Care workers are turning to alternative/complementary practoces!!!! YEAH!!! This is good news to me. If you haven't read today's article you might want to. It is Health care professionals who are turning to yoga, acupuncture, chiropractors, pilates, herbal medicines, meditation, etc. I like what this article says about the doctors and nurses being more open to these practices and even seeing value in them. That way they are not so averse to suggesting them to their patients.

My first clue that this might be happening is when my DHs neurosurgeon asked him if he had tried chiropractor or water therapy or physical therapy for his back pain before he would suggest surgery. I was surprised by his question but also grateful for his endorsement.

The article does caution that a patient who is using any kind of alternative practice share that with the doctor. Now maybe one won't be so afraid to mention it and it puts everyone at more ease. Again I have to say.....YEAH!!!!!

I agree. YeAH! I love acupuncture and meditation. Both have brought me great relief. Physical Therapy also provided me a wonderful alternative to back pain instead of the narcotic pain reliever suggested by my doctor.
