Smoky skies, Clean garage, & Fall 5%Challenge
Saturday, September 03, 2011
We've got forest fires a couple of hours to the east of us here and the wind's been blowing in from that direction for about 5 hours. The sky is absolutely yellow, the sun is barely cutting through and the smell of smoke is tickling my throat. Wasn't expecting this today.
Luckily I was up 'n at 'em early this morning. The neighbors across the street are on a short vacation so I took advantage of being able to throw open the garage doors and, without having anybody directly across from me watching my foolishness, did the annual cleaning of the garage. Except this year is a bi-annual cleaning since it didn't get done last year. Moving every thing from one side to the other then using the blower to knock all the cobwebs down and clear out under the freezer. Then take the dang push broom and tackle the floor. Then repeat process for other half.
I'm pretty honest with myself about counting my cardio. I didn't count last weeks hours of power-washing because it can't really be considered "cardio" by anyone's standards. Today, after my work in the garage, I posted cardio minutes. It's apparently been awhile since I've done any heavy lifting and moving or pushing a broom. I've been reminded what sore muscles are supposed to feel like. It is a virtuous feeling.
It's the last week of the Summer 5% Challenge and I hope to keep the exercise momentum going.
If anyone's interested in joining up for the next go-round, here's a link to the Fall Team. I can't express strongly enough how much I appreciate the incentive I get from belonging to the Daisies and we can always use new members. www.sparkpeople.com/mysp
