Circumventing Lack of Willpower

It's the final week of the Summer 5% Challenge and my results are, how do we say, not particularly outstanding. My scale currently sits a pound and a half higher than when I started. In order not to have the efforts of the past 2 months be a disappointment, I will shift everything into high gear for the next 6 days.

My eating has not been as Sparkful as usual. In an effort to save money and not waste food that's been sitting in the freezer for recent Sparking months, I've been eating out of the freezer and pantry. Other than buying fresh produce, I haven't gone grocery shopping for 2 weeks. My bank account thanks me. My scale does not.

The one concession I've made is to cut down on after dinner sweets and snacking. And in order to do that I'm outsmarting my lack of will-power by going to bed ridiculously early. The bonus there is I'm getting a lot of reading done.

One of the first message board questions I recall reading when I joined SparkPeople was someone asking if anyone else ever goes to bed early to avoid eating. At the time, I thought well how silly can you be. But now, I find that it works for me so not so silly after all.

    I have done the go-to-bed-early-to-avoid-snacking thing myself - the one thing that I do have to say about it is that it works! emoticon

    It looks like me. I started the challenge at 123 and today, my weight is 123.2! At least, during the challenge, we learned to focus on being more concerned about our habits and learning to get healthy ones. These are work in progress.

    Congrats about your success with cutting down sweets after dinner! Reading more, as a result, is really a nice bonus!

    You ARE making progress, and that is what it is all about!! I love that in the process of cutting down on after dinner sweets, you are reading more. That is definitely a win-win!!!
