Finding a Balance

Is there a way to balance liking myself with losing weight? Can I still lose weight without obsessing over what the scale says? I am going to try to use SparkPeople.

I'm just starting to read a book called "When You Eat at the Refrigerator, Pull Up a Chair" and I'm hoping it will help me out. I want to love myself the way I am but still lose weight!

    Totally agree with Purpleflower...even losing pounds, I still see myself as looking the same when I look in the mirror. But pictures side by side? Heck yah!

    Of course there is a balance. There are plenty of other ways to notice change than just the numbers on a scale. Yes it's nice to see the numbers change, but the best way to see change is to take pictures. I know, it's hard when we're at our biggest ever and then someone says, "Take pictures", the first thing that came to MY mind was "Are you nucking futz?"

    It works. I just took my 3rd picture, and while I was kinda bummed I didn't see a big difference in my clothes yet, putting those pictures side by side on my computer I saw a difference!!! Seriously!

    I also know people who changed their lifestyles and instead of using scale measurements, they only used their actual measurements to see how they were doing. They compared their inches to previous measurements. Whatever works best for you.
