Month End/Quarter End

Sunday, October 02, 2011

I love my job but last week it just about ate me alive and this coming week will only be more intense. On Friday we had both month end and the end of 3Q11. I do a lot of monthly reporting and work with data that populates the business day after month end. What makes this difficult is that I have no access to this data until Monday morning and then we're already three days into the month. Plus I've been put in charge of running a rather large quarterly meeting using this info - and the meeting is on Thursday! It's a great opportunity, but I worked 12+ hour days all last week and went in on Saturday to preemptively get all other work out of my way. I'm just stressed out and not resting up very much at the moment. By October 15th I'll be a happy camper again, but in the meantime life will be intense.

I'm also ticked off at myself for completely blowing my calorie ranges the past few days. Something about a team pub trip after a long day together has just been too enticing! A Smith & Wollensky's just opened - in my building. Now we only have to go downstairs for our 'reward'! :(

To combat this, I'm going to try and beg off the drinking a bit but more realistically figure that if I eat healthier lo-cal lunches it will help too. There are some days when I know for sure we will be dragging our tails out after a big meeting. I'm also thinking about getting a stability ball for my desk - at this point any little bit will help!

In slightly more cheerful news, we had a health fair at work last week and I got better than anticipated results! My blood pressure is remarkably low for my industry and my blood sugar was nice and low too. Although I still need to get healthier, at least I'm not worried about encroaching diabetes or stroking out at my desk!
