Adapting to a puppy and Half Marathon Aftermath....

Tuesday, October 25, 2011

I'm sure you all have read that we adopted a puppy on Saturday. Crunch is fitting into our lives very well. He is the sweetest little boy, and seems to have adjusted from being with his 7 brothers and sisters very well. I was very afraid that he would be horrible through the night - but so far, so good. He wakes up once through the middle, and then usually makes it to somewhere between 5:30 or 6....which is wake up time anyway.

We have only had a handful of accidents, and they are all our fault, not paying attention - or not just taking him out when he wakes up from a nap.

We have joked that we were going to change his name from Crunch to Hoover....because that is how he eats...LOL....but Crunch stays....although it may become Krunch because our last name starts with a "K".

So - Monday was my first day with Crunch, my niece, and post half let down....WOW what a day it was.

I woke up with some bizzare pains....a sore toe, ankles and a bruise on my left thigh that I'm not sure where I got that....and just generally feeling tight. Not too sore. As the day went on - the legs got tighter so by the time it was dark I was walking around like an old lady.

I really just wanted a nap - but with a puppy and a niece......not happening!

Today - I am not sore, not tight, and the toe still hurts - but all is good.

I think Thursday, I will get a small 3-4 mile run in. Next week I need to attack my new routine....not sure what it is yet - I'll let ya know.

Time for the puppy to do his thing....have a great night.

Oh I miss having a puppy in the house. I'm glad he is settling in so well. Give him a belly rub from me.

I hope your legs are better and that you get in your running. Keep us posted.

Cute! I'm so glad he's fitting in with the family :) I had to chuckle when I read "a SMALL 3-4 mile run". Wasn't so long ago that 3-4 miles was a big deal, right? Look how far you've come, girl! Be proud!

Sounds like Krunch is doing great! I think he's going to be a great friend for you & the boys.

    How's that toe?
I'm not sure what my next routine will be. I need to figure that out. Whatever it is will be geared toward weight LOSS!

I'm glad Crunch is adapting so well. You never know when you get a new pet how they'll respond to their new environment.
I think a little post-half soreness is to be expected. I hope the toe feels better by tomorrow.

Aww, so glad Crunch is doing so well. He knows he found a wonderful furever home, so he's being a very good boy. :) And the hound in him makes him act like a Hoover! LOL

Sounds like you have had quite a busy few days! Hoover is actually a really cute name too - you seem to have a knack! Next time I get a new puppy I know who to come to name advice!

I remember the days of new puppies, and waking up and running full speed downstairs to take her potty. Or, having to come outside to meet company so she wouldn't get so excited and pee on the floor in the entry. You don't realize just because they can walk and cause trouble, that they are still babies. Funny little things, I am so glad to hear he is fitting in, and your post run soreness went away pretty quickly, and without major injury. Sounds like a total success.
