It appears I am mere mortal afterall

Friday, November 04, 2011

Last month I took a free health risk assessment at work. I knew that I had been letting things go a bit, using the logic that I would get on it soon. I got the results yesterday and was shocked at what I seen. First off, I don’t ever think of how old I am and it caught me off guard in print. I’m seven months into year 40 and still raising my pizza slice and ice scream spoon up in the air like I just don’t care. I have not seen a problem with it, my body begs to differ.

So, to sum up how the results look, I would say that they are basically surprised I have not had a heart attack, just not in so many words. Well, here are the words…

"Unfortunately, because you have a waist measurement of more than 40 inches, have low HDL cholesterol, have a reading indicating high blood pressure, have high triglycerides, AND have high blood glucose, you have metabolic syndrome."

Well. Guess it is a good thing I have been off the sauce and smokes for years. It appears I am mere mortal after all. Looks like day one is here on turning this thing around.

Hello Gabby, thanks for the comment. The first time around I was getting headaches (and I'm not a headache person at all, maybe a couple a year with illness) and had no energy. Didn't seem worth it to take that route and feel like that. Sadly, I didn't stay with "my way" either and here I am.

I have considered trying it again just to get kick started, not set on it yet though.

I ate a good breakfast yesterday and made it to the gym and felt better already. I'm cooking a great recipe I have in my cookbook on here right now...and can't have that with 17DD ;) but it is low calorie and satisfying.

I'll consider it, thanks for stopping by! emoticon

Come back to the 17DD! I just had a check up also and my cholesterol is great (HDL is up, LDL down), blood pressure is normal for the first time in years and I'm down 60lbs since the end of April. It's harder for a post menopausal woman like me who doesn't exercise to lose weight than a man like you LOL! So give it another try.
My DH found out 6 weeks ago that he is a full blown diabetic and the doctor was astounded how much is sugar has come down. I have him doing C3 with a couple of extra starches because he didn't need to lose weight. It's just the healthy eating.
Let us know why you had a hard time the first time and we'll try to help you through it.
