Not giving up but today is a bad day

Saturday, November 19, 2011

Today I decided to write down what I eat instead of tracking it on SP. I'm becoming obsessed with everything I take in and I feel terrible at the end of the day because I either went over my calories, or went over my fat or carbs. And worried about how low my potassium and magnesium is. It's silly. So today I thought I'd try just winging it. Besides drinking some alcohol I think I'm doing pretty good. Tomorrow I will input all of my food for today and see how I actually did. At some point we have to learn to do it on our own without tracking. Tomorrow I'll go back to tracking because I know I still need it for awhile. I am not giving up though! As much as I think about my old habits...fast food, fast food and more fast food... I'm not going to go back to that life style! I need to be healthy and I need to be thin!

Totally agree with everything said so far... tracking is super-challenging for me too. I either never seem to sit down and do it, or I go to the other extreme and obsess about it. A journal is helpful because it still lets us be aware of what we are putting into our bodies without obsessing about every nutrient.
    Keep up the good work!!

Tracking is something I seem to always need to come back too. I do good for awhile as long as every part of my life is in check but as soon as something gets off kilter so does my eating and then I need to go back to tracking and start from the beginning again... I am NEVER going backwards, I never want to be that overweight and unhealthy person again.... so if I have to track myself every so often to pull myself in check so be it right?

I hear you...I have to keep myself in check sometimes because I get very obsessive with my nutritional intake and exercise. Every once in a while I'll track just to make sure I keep myself on track.

I do find it easier and more convenient to keep an actual food journal then logging in to track every bite...but to each their own though right?!?!

Congrats on your success so far!

I find writing it down is quite effective as well. You should try writing it down every day and one day a week, track your food. I find this helps me. I write it down and am conscious of what I am eating, but only track my food for the one day.
