Inspiration - from Spy Kids 4- no really... cinematic truth of motherhood

Sunday, November 27, 2011

So, I am embarrassed to say, I am watching Spy Kids 4 with the kiddos this morning.

Not only is Jessica Alba so beautiful (hate her) but she KICKS butt in this movie. I haven't seen such a clear, truthful vision of motherhood in cinema in a very long time. Marissa is in labor, and 'cleaning their clocks' Saving the world and doing all the mom stuff we all do.

Of course instantly, she is a size zero, keeping the fantasy in the movie. (Gotta love movie magic)

Still, its nice to see some appreciation of what mom-hood is all about...juggling the world and still making our kids know they are the most important thing in it.

Robert Rodriguez is pretty damn genius. I also loved shark boy & lava girl. His imagination is truly powerful. And his vision of family is exactly what our world needs- at any age!

I'm off to fold clothes and do the grocery shopping, help my monkeys with their homework...paint my toes, wash the dog and then we will have some lunch on my world famous home made bread. Then we are out to the new house to do some drywall and play with plumbing...because tomorrow at 8, they have to be at school and I have to go to work. All with my hair looking AMAZING!

signing off- kickin' butt and takin' names. emoticon

i once read that alba worked out so much after her real life baby that she would puke and cry, really? that desperate to get back into shape? couldn't hang onto that extra weight for a few months and lose it sensibly? made me happy i am more moderate with my exercise regime, i prefer to enjoy it, not hate it, and certainly dont want to puke or cry! good luck with the reno!! as far as crafting goes i have my etsy and am selling locally at a wearable art shop with a bunch of other crafty peeps, meeting new and interesting people in the community. you were one of the folks that helped me focus where to get my work out there (etsy) and that has led to many other opportunities such as donating work to charity auctions, locally and up in canada. you rule!! :)
