Reflections on 2011

Hi all,
It seems like reflections on last year's goals are appropriate before setting the new ones. This year was a tough one for me physically. And that did limit my opportunities to succeed in other areas-as well as bring new challenges in.

Back surgery did happen in August-I managed to wait but physically it was a tough challenge that limited my ability to work on weight loss or movement-it was just getting through the day. Thank God for pain management doctors. It definitely got me through that period. Recovery had some complications but overall went pretty well. I am glad that I did the surgery.

Jan 2, 2011 and Jan 2, 2010 I weighed 381 pounds. This January I am at 416. Some of that is swelling, but some complications after surgery limited my mobility and I did put on some weight.

2010 I was walking about 3-4,000 steps per day due to my knees (with cortisone). After knee replacement I was averaging about 4-5,000 steps per day during the week. After 2 weeks back to work full time in December, I am averaging 4,000 steps a work day-and last Thursday was a record 7,000 steps. Since walking was my rehab after the back surgery-it has gone well and this is very encouraging!

2011 goals:
Tracking my food each day - did pretty well at this
8 glasses of water per day - not too bad here
2 fruits per day - still need to work on this
5,000 steps per day - pretty good average for 2011
And after tax season, go to the pool 2 times per week -I was not able to do when the back pain got worse.

So I did pretty well for 2011. But I want to do so much more in 2012!
