Sugar Addicts W1B1

emoticonMy name is Lou and I am a sugar addict.

emoticonI have joined the Official Tame Your Sweet Tooth Challenge to get over being one!

emoticonI realize that substituting sugary items with artificial sweetener "sugary" items is not the ideal road to take, but for right now it is a step in the right direction.

emoticonI think once I've truly gotten over the sugar addiction then I can start reducing and finally eliminating the artificial sweetener crutch.

emoticonI'm doing a "smart carb" diet anyways so this helps to reinforce proper eating behaviours.

emoticonWish me luck!!

I was there for a long time. I know you can do it.
What worked for me is to eat low-carb (no grain, no beans, very little fruit) to get rid of any desire to eat sugar. The sugar-free alternatives were worse than sugar because they still spiked my insulin levels and left me hungry every two to three hours. I gradually went from eliminating sugar to eliminating gluten-grains to eliminating all grains and the fewer carbs I ate the less cravings I had to eat sugar.
    Best wishes,
