Going is Getting Tough

Well, I did know that at 59 years of age the sledding would be slow. The older you are, the slower the metabolism especially after menopause. It is what it is but it is so frustrating. Although staving off diabetes has been my goal you would think working out 4 times a week (2 with a trainer) would result in a couple pounds off a week. I have tracked my weight daily. I have lost 22 pounds in 15 weeks just slightly over a pound a week. In my younger days I would lose a pound and a half a week easy. So, I am sitting here in the blues especially since my family and I are visiting an old friend and her husband down in Arizona next week. Like most of you probably at one time did, I still associate travel with eating at amazing restaurants. I am so afraid I don't have enough leeway weight-wise. I plan to swim in my friend's pool but it may not be enough. Yes, I am kind of scared of gaining like 4 pounds back or something.
I am going to be packing - not just clothes, but protein bars and healthy snacks too. I am definitely worried and hope that I can overcome it, relax and enjoy a lovely trip.

    At our age 1 pound a week is FABULOUS. If you are averaging more than that you are doing extremely well.

    Keep watching your portions, doing some exercise and paying attention to your goals and you should be fine!

    I know what your are going through. We just got back from a 10 day trip to Hawaii. I too packed some healthy snacks and watched what I ate when going out. Every time food was set before me I thought...This is a man's portion and I can only have half! I took my time and enjoyed every morsel and did a lot of walking. The important thing is that you know you can enjoy your trip and come home not feeling guilty. I did.
