LIMES Week One Challenge - Excuses
Wednesday, March 21, 2012
You know what they say....excuses are like a**h***s...everybody has one. LIke so many of us, I have alot more than one.
This week our challenge was to choose 3 healthy habits to work on, meet them 4 of 7 days, and blog about experience. I chose to work on getting in my 8 cups of water because that has always been my biggest challenge. I also decided that I needed to consistently get in my 5 servings of fruits and veggies and my strength training. I was only to meet one of the 3. I did incorporate more fruits and veggies into my meal plan on a regular basis.
I was able to overcome all the excuses for getting in my fruits and veggies. The biggest excuse being the cost. I really shopped the sales and planned around them. Quite an accomplishment being that the grocery shopping was slim to none this week. I had double servings of many of the vegetables I prepared this week to get those servings in, and you know what, I stayed fuller longer. Bonus!!!
I didn't fare so well with the water. I'm not too sure my problem with water is really an excuse or just the way that it is. I've tried all the tricks but nothing seems to work for me. I simply don't think about drinking unless I'm parched, and I just don't seem to get that thirsty. I drink my one iced coffee in the morning and then it is water the rest of the day. I just don't drink much of anything. Still need to keep working on this one.
I also did not overcome the excuses for the lack of strength training. The number one excuse, as with many others, is time. I just can't seem to find it. I let life get in the way and skpped out on the gym more often than not. When I did go, it was just for some quick cardio. I did, however, try to incorporate a few strength moves into my every day chores. I did squats and lunges here and there when doing laundry. I guess that counts for something!!!
All of the above tells me that I am still a work in progress. I will keep working on it and learning and never stop looking for what works for me.
