10% down... What I have learned so far.

I set a goal to loose 10% of my weight. This idea bolstered by both articles here on Spark People and by Dr Oz. I was far from perfect on this leg of my journey (not that I ever expect to be perfect) but I made progress. The journey is far from over, but I am confident that by working 10% at a time I will loose the weight, make healthy changes and meet my goals in time.

I learned to not beat myself up because I had a bad day. I simply chalked it up to experience and strive to do better.

I learned that little things count. Measuring out snack foods into servings when I brought them home so it was easier to grab (and eat) just a small bag then the whole big bag.

I learned to taking time for a short walk or even just to breath when I was stressed, before I reached for food.

I learned water is my friend. Drink it does make a difference.

I also learned to take my medications consistently. No more forgetting them more nights then I took them and then shrugging it off like it didn't matter. It does mater and my over all health can show that. I admit I do hope eventually I will make enough healthy changes not need them anymore, but for now I accept that I do need them and I will continue to take them until my doctor and I agree I can move on without them.

And I can't forget support. Everyone here had been so supportive. I know when I had bad days, when I was sick, and even when I was happy my Spark People team members (especially the Journey to a New You folks) have been there for me.

Thank you to everyone. One leg of my journey is over and the next is ready to start. Another 10% is waiting for it's turn.
