Just because....

Tuesday, June 26, 2012

I am down 3 lbs from Sunday proving to myself yet once again that consistency in eating is the key that my body needs to lose weight. I also sprained my ankle on Sunday morning so this is doubly true because all activity was stopped by the injury. Simply by sticking to the calorie plan, I've lost weight.

Knowing my schedule and its penchant for going from really busy to nothing, I need to plan the calorie intake plan based on really easy to keep track of foods so I decided to look at and try the Special K Challenge plan. That way, counting calories are basically a click away instead of having to measure and plan everything.

Today is the last day on that plan from when started, but I'll repeat since it got kind of off on a rocky start. Being easy and being things that I normally eat will make a difference in me sticking with this one.

A Vicious Cycle:

The only times I've lost weight in recent years was when I was tracking calories and eating consistently. But...because it was so time intensive to track them, I go through a busy time in my schedule and give up. I don't put the weight back on for a long period of time and then realize I have to do something.....anything to get back on track.

When I start tracking again, I find that I am way BELOW the calorie limit I am supposed to be eating. Working with a nutrionist in the past has shown me that this means that my body is in starvation mode and holding onto every single calorie, whatever it is and storing it. Of course, when I share this with people, they don't believe it. You can see it in the skepticism in their eyes.

When people look at overweight individuals, they assume that it's because they are lazy and that they overeat. Sure, I've probably done some overeating in my time. Who hasn't? That is not, however, the norm for me. It's not like I pig out on fast food or junk food all the time.

The last few days, sticking within my calorie range, drinking mosts of my water, has proven that. I've lost weight even though my activity has been down due to the injury. Now I just have to keep it up. Here we go again.....
