Good evening! I am running late with this blog. Sorry but I got out of the house today and just got back.

Today is FOCUS FRIDAY! The reason I chose focus is that the weekend is here and I know that this can be a tough time for some people. The weekend brings barbecue parties or other activities that could include food. When we host the party, we can control the menu. When someone else is in charge, we don't know what will be served or if there will be many healthy choices to pick from.

This is where FOCUS comes in. Today we can assess the weekend and make a plan to handle those possible hurdles. If you are not the host, maybe you could make a healthy dish to take to share with the rest of the guests.

You could plan to eat what is served but watch your portions and FOCUS on conversation and mingling. FOCUS on the people not the food.

Before you go, you could have a healthy snack so you aren't starving. This will help keep you from attacking the food table! You really don't want your spouse to have to talk you down from the potato salad! Lol

I remember when I worked full time. I could follow my eating plan pretty well during the week but the weekend was like a feeding frenzy! I ate whatever and exercise was out the window. That is why a weekly FOCUS is important. You need to have a plan. You need a plan B! Don't forget to plan your weekend fitness. What is your plan B for fitness if your plans change?

When you fail to plan, you are planning to fail!

Have a great night!

Time for me to make some decisions. Max's party is Sunday and our 4th celebration is pulled pork and chicken. I think one strategy is to take some of things you mention. Some things I can eat that are on my plan. Then not run up to the table as soon as the food comes out and then keep pace with everyone else, but to wait and chat a lot before I indulge. I know I will eat some non-vegan things. I will be happy if I just don't go overboard. Thanks for reminding me to plan before I'm faced with the decisions. Love ya, Mom emoticon

Weekends are not that much different for me. Being self employed you work when your client needs you. But I do know what you mean, it is a bit different when you have a routine and then you have couple of days with no structure. I always have to plan my days and be flexible for the unexpected changes. Hope you have a great weekend. Think I will end up working part of mine.

Oh, I love having this parties with my family, and I always bring 3 healthy dishes with me.

    1. a salad bowl. It has a little of everything and I do bring 3 different types of dressing. All homemade, and the family loves it.
    2. a fruit bowl. I have to have fruit.
    3. Baked Chicken without the skin. They love that too.

I'm the health nut in the family, and when I say. I'm not eating what you're serving... I mean that.

So, think about bring a few healthy dishes. Make sure one of them is salad or fruit. For some darn reason they tend to leave the good stuff out and load that table down with all the no no items, and the kids love it too... I think I did a 50 dollar fruit bowl last year, and it still wasn't enough. LOL! I wish you luck on your holiday weekend.

Love it! I am going to a party tomorrow night. When I RSVPed, I told the host, I'm on a special diet so I'll just bring my own food. Their response? "Great! Glad you can come!"
