Not good

Wednesday, July 04, 2012

I have been on my new diet over a week now and today I weighed myself only to find out that I am still 12 stones 4 pounds, I was so disappointed but I am not giving up at least not yet. I have worked so hard and have even been going swimming twice a week.
I know that I have lost nearly a stone since Christmas but it has been so slow and very hard work, I am not over eating and have kept to my alotted calories. I am on tablets for depression and wonder if they are part of the problem.

The depression tablets and whole bodily mood could be contributing to how slow it is. That's great that you have lost and are holding your own rather than gaining. I gained back .4 of a pound this week but my weather here and other stressors have me being kind to myself instead of disappointed.

Stick with it!! in my own experience with meds weight gain was a real problem. Years ago I had a horrible doctor who could care less of the side effects of the meds he put me on...long story short the meds really packed on the pounds...almost 100. Now I'm on meds that do not cause weight gain and am feeling much better over all as well.

Sometimes the scale doesnt tell the whole story. Look for other ways its helping like maybe more energy or just feeling better about what your doing for yourself. I do know some antidepressant med will make it much harder to lose weight, you might want to ask your dr. But either way Keep up your hard work, even if it takes awhile it will make a big difference. Keep positive. emoticon

Hang in there! You admit that you've have lost at least a stone since Christmas, so there's your progress. Do you feel better in any way? Is it easier to move about, make healthy meal choices, or do your swimming workout? In addition to the loss of a stone, congratulate yourself on at least one of these smaller goals. Write them down if you have to. I know it helps me to do so. For a while, all I could put down was that I didn't huff and puff when I got to the top of a flight of stairs. No real weight loss, despite calories and excercise. But, when I thought of it, that IS an accomplishment. My body became healthier and could work more efficiently due to my excercise, regardless of what the scale said. I also knew that my eating choices were healthier than before, so I was actually getting the nutrients to get stronger day by day.
So WOO-HOO to you, despite the numbers!
