Consistency isn’t as boring as it sounds

Wednesday, September 05, 2012

Being consistent with weight loss doesn’t sound very fun. It sounds steady, predictable, and tedious. It’s not like a big explosion of fireworks with confetti drifting down from the ceiling with music blaring (think Biggest Loser finale).

But you know what I realized today? That I’ve lost 1 pound a week for 3 weeks in a row. But I expected more. Especially since I’ve been killing it at the gym & even started running again. I expected the fanfare, the confetti, the fireworks, Allison awarding me with the Biggest Loser check, cheering fans, a hug from Bob. [Welcome to my fantasy.]

You know what I got instead? Another pound in the right direction. I got a pound closer to my goal. A pound closer to a healthier me. A better me.

So I've decided that instead of the fanfare, the quick start, the hoopla...at the end of the day, I’ll take consistency--every pound of the way!!

Just now saw your page, and this blog. You are right. Consistency is key. Even missteps are ok! Just get back on that hoss and ride. (I'm from Texas. ;) I'm losing about a lb a week. Sometimes gain back some but I don't let that get me down. It's all good. emoticon emoticon

Yes, I'll take it a pound-at-a-time anyday-- even without all the fanfare. The way I see it is: One pound down is better than one pound up any day of the week! And for me, it is much harder to keep off than to lose. Once I get off-focus, it starts creeping back on.... emoticon

So I'm finally getting a chance to catch up on blogs, and I think it was slightly providential that I'm just reading this now. I've been discouraged lately because there's no Bob, Jillian, $$$, and confetti at my weigh ins. Thanks for this blog!

emoticon emoticon emoticon Consistency is better than all the fanfare, but it sure is fun to celebrate either way! Celebrate each small consistent step and before you know it, there will be a big thing to celebrate!

Consistency might sound boring, but I for one would welcome it!! Vs the up up down, down or up down, up down I've been having on the scale. :P

And yeah, a hug from Bob (or even Dolvett) would ROCK!!

CONSISTENCY ROCKS!! ;) It is steady, predictable and tedious but it works! That's the great part of it. We all need consistency. With it you find the fastest path to where you want to be! When I saw your pound loss the last three weeks in a row. I got the feeling of WOW that is awesome!!
