WUB Week 2

Sunday, September 23, 2012

I had a fun week. It started off great but kind of fizzled at the end. I tend to slack a bit when I think I've already done well. I love it when people tell you it's ok as long as you're good 80% of the time but I probably should try ignoring that a bit more because my bad 20% seems to just keep getting bigger. As for my weekly goals:

1. Complete all challenges for the week. Fail. I didn't stay in range all week, my Saturday was terrible. A lot of boredom induced eating. I flipped a coin, go to the gym verses going out to eat and the eating won out. I hope the next time I'm faced with that choice I will have developed a better sense of which is the better option for me. My fitness streak also ended on Saturday. I don't consider casual physical activity exercise for me and between work and not having a car I just didn't have time to find my way to the gym. I have visual reminders every where but I am working on a new one I started this week. I spoke to my mother and tried to come up with something that I could work for for someone else. I'm highly motivated when what I'm doing involves someone else. I had thought maybe I would earn a set amount of money for my fitness minutes or something like that that I could donate to charity. I spoke to my mother about it and she told me about something that she had really wanted and had been putting off for some time taking care of other things. I decided that I'm going to earn the money for her. So my visual motivator is a piggy back of sorts that is collecting the change I earn for working out, eating better and losing weight. My new vegetable/ fruit was artichokes and rhubarb (not together).

2. Burn off 7000 kcal. emoticon

3. 1500 kcal/day. Fail (Saturday)

4. Create a plan for returning to school. emoticon
I've contacted the school I'm considering transferring to. I've ordered transcripts from my previous schools. I'm thinking about topics for my application essay. I'm supposed to go next week to look into my financial aide options. The only thing I really failed to address was a major and career goal. I stall on this because it's hard to choose something that is both practical and I'm interested in. When I was in school I was a kinesiology major. I chose it purely out of interest for the subject matter and didn't consider if I could reasonably do any of the careers it led to. I'm at that same place now. What I like might not be what I can do. Tops on my list though are unsurprisingly: health science, general, health science, kinesiology, communication disorders, psychology and international health.

Thanks to everyone for all the support.

    I second EVERYTHING Mama*2*Boys said!!!!!

Also, congrats on making progress toward returning to school! I have a soft spot in my heart for psychology, so I must admit I smiled to see it was a possibility on your list :-) ...the only thing about psych, though, is that if you decide to go for it, you have to be prepared to go to graduate school afterward. Psychology is one of those weird fields where you can't get a job that's actually IN the field unless you have at least a master's degree.

I think you are amazing. Seriously. The fact that you are motivated not to get something for yourself, but to help your mom really shows your strength of character. I know that we don't technically "know" each other, but I feel that you don't appreciate yourself like you should. You are SMART, STRONG, BEAUTIFUL, SWEET, CARING, ENCOURAGING, COMPASSIONATE.

I understand wanting to do better, but I truly hope that you are able to look at yourself in the mirror and say, "Look how far I've come! I really am AMAZING!"

Ok, so you didn't stick to your calories very well this week. You still burned 7000 calories working out!! That is phenomenal! I am proud of my exercise, and I only burned 1560 calories last week! I can't even fathom what it would take to burn 7000 calories!

I love that you are planning how to return to school! I, personally, think that you have all the traits needed to be a FABULOUS nurse! And I'm not just saying that because I am working towards becoming an RN and I think we could be RN buddies or something... ;)

emoticon and I hope you have a FANTASTIC week!!
