I am so lucky to have children

Otherwise I would not have gotten one whit of exercise today.
I only got about 2.5 hours of sleep last night. I had some kind of stomach bug and was feeling awful all day. I actually spent most of it being 'bad mom' on the couch cuddling with my youngest while the TV played babysitter. Although I will confess the cuddling was outstanding.
So when my eldest got home from school at 4:15, my youngest suggested (actually she begged) that we walk the neighborhood so that she could finally ride the razor scooter that Santa brought. And I had promised we would do it, so I caved. Got my sorry and fatigued self off the couch, got on my sneakers and bundled up. Although it was a balmy 37 degrees today so WAY better than the 24 degrees of a couple of days ago.
We went out, and as we walked we accumulated a bunch of kids from the neighborhood until I was walking among seven kids up and down the street twice, which, much to my surprise, was a whole half hour! I was amazed! When I did half an hour on the elliptical the other day it took for freaking ever. Even the walk around the park seemed to go in 8 minute sections between checking my phone to see the time. Today, however, it just flew by!
And what a privilege to spend that time giggling, racing, holding hands, laughing and yes, exercising with my girls...these incredible and amazing people who I am more and more privileged to spend time with on each passing day. And they are motivating, even when they don't realize it. So on a day when I have no energy and no motivation and no real desire to go, they just make it happen.
And when I got home, there was the dress that I ordered online (which I never do) in the mailbox and lo-and-behold, it fits! And looks pretty darn amazing. So I'm feeling even better about the whole thing.
