What motivates me? Reflections from Mini Challenge Team

Monday, January 21, 2013

Well, L. posted a great Challenge for this week. We get to post a reward by midnight tonight that we are willing to work for all week, because it motivates us. It can't be food and it can only be for us, not for anyone else. Talk about hard challenge! I don't know what motivates me. Let me think. Well, my biggest motivation in about 5 years is now that I got a Cholesterol reading that was almost too high. 199. ALMOST 200. And I do not want to be someone who ate her way into a heart problem. Just never thought that would be me. And it is not, so the motivation I have now is health. I want to make good, healthy choices and honor the body that the Lord has given me to live in until He calls me home. A cholesterol number is like a bad grade. I can do better, much, much better. The food tracker motivates me too. What an awesome tool that has become over the years. So better cholesterol numbers, seeing my daily nutritional breakdown and finding out that YAY I did stay within range, or got enough fiber or calcium and didn't go over my sodium...... it's the simple things that make me happy. So how can I stay motivated without peaking at the number of my weight? I can be motivated by noticing that my 5 sun salutations in the morning before my shower are getting smoother, I can hold the stretches with more ease, bend a little deeper. So what would I pick as a reward for sticking with the challenge this week? I know... I will get me the little Cholesterol Book on Amazon I really want. Okay. That's it then. Something nice to work towards :)
