Lesson from the Cruise
Tuesday, April 09, 2013
One of the things I did that seemed to keep me focused on health when I vacationed in Hawaii was to pick out excursions with an exercise component in them. All age groups were involved in these excursions so they were not that physically challenging and yet there was an exercise component in them.
So, I hiked in a rainforest and swam in a waterfall on Maui and snorkeled on Kona. It was so much better than just wasting time shopping. Many of the people on our cruise ship spent time in Hawaii at Walmart! I know you can get Hawaiian souvenirs cheap there but really - Walmart? You can have the Walmart experience at home. Can't say I get that at all.
I was very amused when one of the members of our progressive trivia team challenge who was a beautiful young German girl spent her time in Walmart in Honolulu. Her mission was to purchase Cheerios as souvenirs. Apparently, there are no Cheerios in Germany! Anyhow different strokes for different folks but I am glad I chose to try and be healthy and on the move.
I do confess I am still nibbling on the delicious macadamia nuts in various flavours that we bought at the Mauna Loa Factory in Hilo.
