Need your advice WW app vs Spark app vs Lose it app

Friday, October 04, 2013

I am considering quitting ww online. I don't use there site except for tracking my points and there menu of point values. I haven't really lost weight either. Yes I have had a lot going on. But in the last 3 weeks I should have seen a change.

My thoughts are : the spark app? This synchs with your Account. It also has a barcode scanner? Which is what I want. I am in Canada so I am wondering if the foods I scan will come up properly. I don't use the nutrition tracker right now bec... Most foods are American food nutrition values..and this drives me crazy to put all the info in. Anyone know the answer about the barcode scanner.

My other option is to go with a simple app called lose it. This app has a scanner and tracks weight, nutrition in calories. It is free.. You can pay for premium features. Not too sure what this all comes with this feature.

So if you could share your thoughts that would be great.

Love you background picture. I have missed you! I think both aps are really good so you cant go wrong. I guess it depends on what nutrients and the like you want to stick to. I am actually joining WW on 10-15

WW never worked for me, even after spending $60! Argh! I am an American and the spark app works just fine for me. Are there Canadian-specific forums you can search out? I have used MFP, and its great for just tracking calories.

I would go for the free one and that way you don't lose money and can see if it works too. Hate spending money on something that does not work.

The barcode scanner to bring up nutritional values is still in beta, so it isn't always particularly helpful. I'm going to assume that it it generally is in the American food nutritional values as well as it does look them up the same as th basic search. I do like the SP app though, if you can get the free version. I don't know I'd pay the $3.99 US for the paid considering it doesn't have that much more than the free app (lets you read articles, spin the wheel). I have a friend who has the paid version and isn't a fan of it, but I do like it just for tracking on the go.

I have not used the Lose it app at all, though I do know I've seen articles touting how great it is in health magazine, and I've seen it mentioned in Spark articles as well. It certainly doesn't hurt to try out a free app. Worst that could happen is that you hate it and uninstall.

Have you ever considered My Fitness Pal? I like it the best. I use the SP simply because it syncs with everything but I think MFP is a better app.
