When We Meet Again

Thursday, November 14, 2013

Since I've started speaking to my sister again. It has weighed heavy on my mind that we need to other than communicate but we need to see each other and visit. I really didn't think that it was going to be this difficult but I guess it is.

When we talk on the phone it seems like old times. I am sure when we meet again it is going to be different. Too many years have passed and I wish that I had not let that happen but I guess was afraid, hurt, angry and unforgiving. I have learned a lot from this experience and one is to forgive. I forgive her and my other siblings. I want to move forward.

One of the issues I am sure that my sister has is her appearance. She is very vain you know but so am I. She has been on numerous medications that make her very swollen, bloated what have you. I could hear the worry in her voice when I speak to her about her medications and if her face and/or body will go down. Of course, it will. I too have changed since she last saw me. I am overweight and show signs of age.

I am unhappy to be overweight but I have to admit it. I am trying I just need to put things into perspective. I must say life can be very challenging. I pray for many things most importantly to be healthy. I do not have any real health concerns but I need to be aware.

Our meet will be just us. I am so looking forward to it. We need to catch up and know that we can be there for each other. My mom (god rest her soul) will be happy!

What I find is after I see people I haven't seen in years, the first appearance is a shock and then my mind just sees them the way we were

It doesn't matter what you look like - we all age. What matters is that you are sisters and need to be together. I hope you have a wonderful visit.

I'm happy for you to be connecting again. Try not to focus on the lost time but be happy you are getting this chance now! Life is about more than our appearances. Hopefully you will both make each other feel comfortable and just enjoy being together again!

I look forward to hearing how the meet goes!

It is good you are speaking with your sister. Life is too short not to see her. Things always seem worse in our minds than they actually are. It doesn't really matter what either of you look like, it is what is inside that counts and it is obvious there is a loving person inside you.

Back in the late 90's I didn't talk to my sister for two years over the stupidest thing. To be honest she was mad at me but I blame menopause for her mood ( 13 yr age difference).

Regardless she died in 2007 and I wish I had those years back now. emoticon

I'm happy for you! I wish you the best when you do meet her again, but mean while it's great that you have learned to forgive and have moved past everything, it just shows how much of a strong person you have become. Changes in appearance are unavoidable, we all go through them, it's a journey and we need to accept the changes that come with it. You should be proud that you have decided to take care of yourself, it's a big accomplishment!
