More son had a bad scare

Thursday, December 12, 2013

Miguelito, Mike, my baby.

He lives in LA and is an aspiring actor. Until that happens he works retail in a clothing store. Yesterday ... well to make his long story short ... the store was held up at gunpoint. In fact two guns ... pointed at his head.

"Take all the sh¡t you can carry," he told them, "but just calm down."

On the way out of the store with $25000 of merchandise they threw a mannequin through the front window. Why?

He said that two minutes after it had happened he could have drawn a picture with the cops. Today, all he remembers is a white guy and a "Mexican". He said he could sit next to them on the bus and not know it. I explained that that is why eyewitness accounts can be so unreliable.

He went by the store today and felt totally sick. The store is closed until the window is fixed and they get cleaned up, but he went in anyway. "Dad, I was scared all over again."

I told him that if he needs to he should talk to a mental health professional. "I'm not there yet, but I see what you're saying."

That is some scary stuff. But he intends to stay in LA and not come running home "in defeat."

Just so I don't have to bring him home "in a box." That would not be a victory.
