Finally injury-free, kale, and three years of spark

I went to the gym for the first time in awhile, and the first time in LA, last night. It was pretty nice, admittedly smaller than the one at school, but workable nonetheless. I even swam after in the beautiful salt water pool in my complex after! It's especially nice because the pool is warm at all times - bonus that there's a jacuzzi. The salt water detail is great because I love swimming (and it's amazing exercise) but I can't risk my hair for chlorine.

I did end last night snacking on healthy foods with friends, but kinda lost track of my servings. I'm glad it was healthy at least, but food can't remain healthy if it's in bulk. Still working on it but today I think I got it down!

I don't start my internship/work until next week, so I'm using this week as my kickstarter for being fit again. I woke up this morning, took my 'before' pictures and did a nice indoor workout, complete with yoga and stretching. I was apprehensive about last night's workout and this morning's because of my back injury and all of that. I have been continuously stretching and trying to strengthen the muscle again slowly but surely. It seems to have worked! I was doing lunges and squats without problem and I stretched after to make sure I was set. I'm happy to be back!

I bought a bag of kale at TJ's on my last shopping excursion and my goal is to incorporate it into as many things as I can. One, so it doesn't go bad lol but mainly because I want to have it often to sweep my insides clean lol. For breakfast, I made scrambled egg whites, brie, and wilted kale on 7 grain bread. I'm excited about shopping at TJ's regularly now with all of the healthy options. Heck, I love being in LA surrounded by healthy options!

Also, I realized that the first of January (haha, how cliche of me) was my three year spark anniversary! Reflecting, the first time around wasn't my biggest success. However, 2012 was my year of triumph in my weight loss journey. Maybe I just needed another even year to pick it up and STICK to it this time ;). I started my triumphant go at this on a random day in January instead of doing a resolution. Yesterday was the 12th...random!

    Just surfing spark & came across your blog. First you are gorgeous! So beautiful. Second, "ain't no time like the present." You always hear that but let's take that for what it is. Who cares about how much you gained or whatever....now is all that matters and you are going to rock this time around.

    Happy Sparkversary!

    I'm trying to eat more kale too, especially because I've given up crisps (potato chips) this year! I know, I'm crazy. But they are my nemesis and I fancied giving myself a challenge. I've since discovered kale chips, which are SO delicious! I realised my obsession with crisps is just that salty and crunchy fix, so I now just get a few handfuls of kale in a bowl, a few dash of olive oil and a sprinkle of salt, mix it all up with my hands and then lay it out on a baking tray, in the oven at a low heat for about 10 minutes and voila! Lovely crunchy kale chips. Give them a try if you fancy mixing it up.

    By the way, just saw your new picture you added! You are such a hottie! Love the dress and you've got a gorgeous shape girl!
