I finally have a day off to blog again and I wanted to update you all on my progress. So, I've been going through a pretty tough transitioning phase in my life right now. I'm finishing school in another state, which is now my new home, and I am working as an intern while taking classes at night. And now, I got a part-time job which is great because now I can get a car...but it's all been pretty exhausting. Oddly enough, my schedule being fuller has helped me plan my gym time better and it's helped me get and stay on track!
To be honest, I haven't lost much weight because I haven't worked out religiously like I need to. However, I haven't really gained anything either, which is nice because it lets me know my weight set point is still in a good enough place. Buuut now I'm done with good enough. I want to get back to those abs I was dreaming about! I've been prepping meals to bring to my internship with me and thanks to Trader Joe's, everything is super fast, healthy and DELICIOUSSS. My coworker always calls my meals "gourmet lunch" because of how they look, and they're so simple to throw together. TJ's is cheap and being that I'm in college, that is crucial. I've been having fun picking up weekly ingredients for my meals and making new things to keep my palate guessing. And yes, kale always makes an appearance. I'm still on that kale kick. I finally made the baked eggs in avocado everyone sees on pinterest but never seems to make lol and I'm eating it as I type! This whole thing is a great practice run for when I'm really in the real world because now I'll know how to cook a bunch of healthy meals (that are still affordable!) when I'm a career woman.
On a related note, I need a quick vent. Is it me or do people always offer you the MOST RANDOM devilish treats when you are being healthy? Especially when you FIRST start? lol I've noticed that for myself, at least, and when I first moved here I gave in a lot because I wanted to try the local fare. They have so many great places to eat in LA, like Boston, and I wanted to taste the city a bit. So, when people would offer me new things, I wouldn't say no even though I should have. Well, that happened in my first week at my internship and someone had a birthday in my department. They came out with this butterscotch meringue pie and I tried to resist (it was literally my first day eating healthily again) and gave in just for the occasion. I started eating completely healthily (calorie counting included, now) Monday and sure enough, there was a birthday yesterday and the same pie came out to play. But you know what, I ended up saying no to approximately four people (not kidding) when I was prodded to get a piece, "a small piece at least" of pie. ENABLERS! haha but seriously! I swear, the peer pressure to be unhealthy is real. It's funny to me because in Hollywood, it's all about appearance and here I am in this entertainment job with people trying to stuff me with pie. I was happy that I got that pressure, though, because it forced me to exercise my willpower. I remembered what the pie tasted like the first time and my memories were delectable enough. Don't get me wrong, the pie was great but my memory also said wasn't good enough to put in my calorie counter.
Anyway, today is my workout day off but tomorrow morning, I'm going before work at 7 a.m. Incidentally, I'm always up super early and end up laying in bed until my alarm goes off. Might as well hit the gym, right? Graduation is around the corner so I'm working hard to be in the 180s! I got over my fear of the stairstepper (I had a bad first experience lol) and now I love it. I only had 10 minutes to do cardio yesterday before work but I made sure I did the stepper because it does a lot in that time. Plus, 10 minutes is more than zero and I don't want to go back to my all-or-nothing mentality. I really want to work my legs because they're my problem area and it also helps my sciatica by strengthening the muscle. Everything is FINALLY coming together and I'm happy about it :) I am so much happier when I'm healthier and active. Just had to hop on here and share that!
