I have learned many things, but the thing that I have learned most recently that has been a game changer is this: Stay away from the "crunchy" isle in Whole Foods. You know the one I'm talking about. It's the isle that has these pretty little bags with lettering all over them. They say things like "whole grain," "baked not fried," "50% less fat," and the list just goes on and on.
The bags are small but they contain about 5 servings. Well, I'm here to tell you, once I start there's just no stopping. I don't care how whole grainy, baked, and with less fat they are. When you eat the whole bag at one time, they are very, very bad for you.
So, now I spend a little more time in the fruit and veggie section. I also make sure I have nuts in the house. I don't ever over-indulge on them and they are so good for you. So, if I need a little something, I'll grab a few and chew slowly.
For me, the crunchy isle no longer exists. One day, as I look in the mirror and see my skinny self, I'll be nodding my head and thinking, "yep, this is way better than a bag of crunchies any day!"
