Abs...the day after....

Tuesday, April 29, 2014

I didn't have to call the fork lift to get me out of bed this morning, but I can tell that I did something different yesterday.

I really feel it in my oblique's, which is great. Maybe I will define my waist a little better if I keep doing some of the things that we did yesterday.

Today I decided to try a spin class. I haven't taken one since my youngest son got sick last March, and I love it. Nothing like killing yourself to get a good sweat on. I also feel I get a great quad workout from spinning, where running targets my hamstrings.

The instructor was great. Noticed right away that I was new, and asked me if I had any questions. She then noticed that I was clipped into my pedals with bike shoes, and asked where I have taken classes. I told her it had been over a year - and she said do what you can.

The class was great. Lots of long hills, and climbing. Not a lot of sprinting. Perfect combos of standing and sitting.

I was a sweaty mess by the time the class was all over. I also realized that my fitbit does not track well. I had 3,000 steps at the start of the class and only had 5,000 at the end. The class was an hour long, and I know I took more than 2000 pedals...Oh Well.....now to push for the other 5000 today.

I then finished my workout with my "A" chart on my weight schedule that hubby put together for me. The pull ups are not getting any easier. I was hoping that I could decrease the amount of assist I am taking next week - but I don't know....

I also did the abs from the chart - and boy did I feel them today. On the chart are side planks, and OUCH, with sore oblique's these were a struggle.

I wish my gym had fancy spin bikes that would take clip in cleats! Ugh. We have dinosaur bikes with cage pedals and manual tension knobs. Not to mention, I had not been in a year (because I ride outside as soon as the weather is warm enough), and they were still playing the exact same CD they had been playing the last two years. I toughened up and rode outside after that so I think I'm done with the local spin class. Glad you had a great one!!

I'm glad you aren't hurting too much today but don't get your hopes up just yet. The soreness could be worse tomorrow.

I've never spun (meaning - riding a stationary bike, lol). Lisa schooled me on the special shoes that clip into bike pedals but I didn't know you could clip into a stationary bike. Uh, I learn something new everyday!
