Summer so far
Thursday, June 26, 2014
Well I am a big believer in the power of blogging. Seems like when I take the time to announce my plans and write them down, I am much more likely to honor that commitment.
So far, this summer... I visited my 89 year old mom and my 87 year old aunt (facetime with my sister)
Then my oldest daughter graduated from college in Maine.
The next day my son graduated from high school in Montana (I made it to both ceremonies!)
and then our 2010 foreign exchange student came for a visit. We hadn't seen him for three years.
Each event was an opportunity for me to see how far I've journeyed past emotional eating. I made a commitment (on a blog in 2012) to quit and so far I'm happy with my progress. Each of these occasions had joy, grief, worry, uncertainty, frustration, anger and delight. I felt it all, gave myself permission to have whatever feeling I needed to have, let myself have it for a few minutes and then moved on. I didn't eat to cover any of it.
For that, I'm thankful and I feel the summer is off to a good start.
