Dear Spark friends,
Wow! It is already December 10! I've mailed a few packages but I haven't sent a Christmas letter. I may not get to that, but I thought I'd write a spark Christmas letter to share about my year on spark.

First off, I have to express my gratitude to Chris, the spark guy for creating this sight and to all the people that make it happen and keep it going. That includes you and all my other spark friends and communities. I love the way this site can meet and support everyone, anywhere on the journey.

For me, I find each year I am here I am working through the layers to reach my goal of being the happy, healthy person I want to be.

Physically, I've exercised consistently all year. I ran the women's run in May and the Missoula half marathon in July. I learned how to change up my program when I got injured and now love working out on my bike trainer. I am currently working to detox myself from sugar. I know that is through the great training that I've had here that I am able to set a goal, stick to it and achieve it.

Emotionally, I made it through the all the birthdays. Anniversaries, reminders of loss AND the graduations of two of my three children and their transitions away from home....WITHOUT EATING MY EMOTIONS! This was huge for me.

Mentally, I've learned to handle stress and relax. I've always been driven, hard working, seen myself as the problem solver. I am letting go of the part of this definition that is always stressed. I can be these things and be calm.

Finally, spiritually. Now that I am not so caught up in the loop of feeling bad about my physical self and using food to handle emotions and then feeling bad about myself, i am so much more awake to my spiritual life (Thanksgiving Community, Tiger Monarchs) I finally understand the wisdom and practice of the simple Serenity Prayer.

How was your spark year?

Love, Rachel
