Build your Inner Rome

Saturday, January 31, 2015

So, this is my first time ever writing a blog... Can you tell? Well, I thought about what to write about and honestly I came out blank at first. So what does this Government major do? She looks up past governments...

Have you ever heard of the expression Rome was not built in a day? Well, I am sure most of you have and if not, now you have. What does this have to do with health, one may ask? Everything. I feel that in our society we are constantly pressured to be certain weight, height, body shape and if we are not then we are not good enough, or pretty enough. Well, I am here to tell you that this is a load of bull. For those on a journey to a healthier you, know that like Rome, you will get your victory, but it will take time. It will require you to sacrifice a Friday night, not eat that pizza or cake, going to the gym when exhausted. I know, sacrifice… ugh… the very thought of it makes my heart sink, but it will be worth it! The first step is to take responsibility for your past actions and decide “that’s enough” and change. It all starts with the will to accomplish, but you only get to the victory with the discipline of sacrifice. Lastly, just remember that unlike Rome you will not meet your doom, because once you become accustomed to a certain way of life it will no longer feel like a diet, or a boot camp regime, but it will turn into your life. One that you will not be too willing to give up. That day will come.

Thank you all for your welcoming attitude :) I admit I was a bit nervous writing this first blog. I am not much of a writer, but I felt that I needed to start writing even if no one read it, at least to keep myself accountable :) I will write again soon!
