Day 133 - Feeling Great

Sunday, April 12, 2015

We got the house packed up for the move tomorrow. It is definitely starting to feel less like "home." We sold one bed (including mattress and box springs) and the sofa and loveseat from the family room. The rest of the furniture will be donated to a charity that helps refugees settle into new homes. It's a good cause that our church has supported for years.

My folks came over so I could cut Dad's hair. He was ready. We had a nice chat, and my mom shared that she is a little anxious that with us moving she won't have family that cares about her. I sent my sisters a message on Facebook reminding them that they need to spend time with mom and dad and call once in a while. We will see how well that works out. I will still call once a week. I may have set a reminder on my calendar.

We went over to our friends Joseph and Tim's for dinner and a movie. Tim had never seen "How to Marry a Millionaire" with Marilyn Monroe, Lauren Bacall, and Betty Grable. It was fun, but Joseph wants to talk all through the movie, and that makes Steve crazy!!

We left at 9:30 and got home a little before 10. I'm doing a quick SP update and then headed to bed. We over indulged a bit, but with all the workout we got today packing and moving boxes, I think I'll be ok.

Have a great rest of the weekend, friends! Thanks for all the love and support! Keep Sparking!

I hope your sisters step up and get more involved with your folks. The last few years of my paternal grandparents lives their daughter (oldest child) didn't spend much time with them (she lived about 15 minutes from them). My dad however visited as much as he could, as would my mom, my son and I and my brother. For us it was about 45 minutes drive to see them, but it was always worth it.

It is nice that some of the furniture sold, but I'm sure that the donated pieces will be greatly appreciated.
Concerning your mom's worries, how about sending your parents a short email a couple of times a week; or a snail-mail Thinking of You card once a week. Little things mean a lot and you are obviously a very good son.
