The Rest of My Vacation
Thursday, May 07, 2015
After spending two days at Burney Falls (the previous blog), we traveled to my daughter's home in the hills outside Placerville, in a suburb called Swansboro where I had a delightful visit with my daughter and her husband, some of my grandchildren and great grandchildren. This would have been enough, but in addition, I got to walk around three little lakes that are within a mile of her home. They are so picturesque that I wanted to share what I saw.
The first lake had three pairs of Canadian geese with their goslings and a very protective domestic goose letting us know we shouldn't get to close to the new little families.
The second lake had a large number of very shy red-eared turtles slipping into the water as we walked by...
At this lake, we also ran across a very brave little ground squirrel that posed for several pictures...
At the final lake, the trail took us into the woods, through a frisbee golf course, up and down a couple small hills, past lots of wild flowers and a friendly horse. Visiting/walking around the three lakes made about a two mile walk. The heat and elevation made it seem much more strenuous than my usual walks on the coast.
