Learning SparkPeople in increments works...

Learning Sparkpeople tools, even just setting up the start page, took time. I did it in small increments. First, I told myself to start with just the nutrition tracker because it was time consuming at first. After a few weeks of entering my meals into my favorites by clicking the little box as I made my original entry, finding the same food again that I eat regularly was faster and easier.
Once I had my nutrition tracker skills under my belt, I went back and set up my Spark Page, added some pictures, and set a few goals. That was around four weeks into my journey here.
Then, I waited two months to use the SP daily check-in tracker that keeps track of your daily use of Sparkpeople on your start page. I keep a Sparkpeople tracker on my water intake there, too.
I got a little obsessed with earning 100 daily Spark points, but I have come down from that obsession.
I have more balance now with my Spark People presence and my living life responsibilities. Work has been hectic and all consuming this week, but rewarding. I have not had time to do any tracking officially. However, I am counting calories on the days I can't do it, and I stop eating when I hit my allowance, even if I can't keep a record electronically on those hectic days.
Good luck to finding a balance that works for your Sparkpeople journey.
I love the taste of food, but I love the taste of life even better!
