Funny how things happen for a reason!
When we were down in Richmond for Ringette camp, my sis and I walked a bunch every day. After we got back, I did basically nothing for several days, then decided to start hiking...did a bunch of 2+ hour hikes, and was pretty stoked, but still had the desire to balk on the workout. The past two days I walked over 17 miles, and last night one of my friends posted a challenge on facebook. Who wants to walk the marathon with me (Okanagan International Marathon)...well, I took her up on it, and registered.
My longest hike so far is 13 miles, and the race is in 6 weeks....should be a fun build up!!!
Funny thing...when I said yes to Carol, I had a carrot, and now I am focussed on a tangible goal. That was what was missing, having something real to go for. I know it is important, and missed it, but now I have it, so am super stoked!! I have run the distance several times before, so respect it. Am a little intimidated by the fact we will be on our feet walking for over 6 hours, but hey, it is making me smile and focus, so all good.
Jan, you are my muse on this. Rather than the scale, it will be small victories...this one will be a big one, but it has you written all over it. Maybe consider Kelowna for a race next year? We are planning on running the marathon in October 2016.
Hugs and love!
