Push Month, getting STRONGER, FASTER

Saturday, November 28, 2015

It has been years emoticon since I did my fav program (hey! American spelling!! It's like back at uni when I had to work on 'going American for grades' -- the job I want requires impeccable grammar and spelling for an entity in the US, so...help a sister out if you catch me looking Canadian).

Push Circuit is when you up weights even more than usual. Instead of trying for failure at 10-12 reps, you aim for 6-8. I remembered this was the month when I popped UP THERE. I mean, for me, ya know.

After my scheduled rest day following Push week 1, I took an 2nd rest day because I've been fighting an infection AND nobody wants to hear this but--

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon Gentlemen, close your eyes, skip down a bit:

After last month's TOM, I had 4 days of not and I've been bleeding not a little since. THEN I started my next period. This is a family trait that I've kept under control for about 16 years -- don't be concerned but it's worth mentioning. My great-Baba had 19 children because that's how they dealt with it back then! emoticon

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon Okay, gents, it's safe now!

I took a 3rd Rest Day in a row. That was Thanksgiving. I didn't do much for T-day, we had family but it's nothing like it used to be. Until a few years ago, you never had less than 28 and could top 60. Before you faint, it was most often in the 30s but I'm saying, it wouldn't faze us to have people parked in the front pasture. Shoot! We used to have them park at a neighbor's (that was painful to type) and SHUTTLE them up with the tractor and a trailer if it's was too snowy/ icy! TRUTH.

Back to Push:

Last week was week 1, so I have a few times where I guessed WAY heavier than I could lift, not even once or maybe 1 but not 2. HAR! emoticon

THIS week? Different story! I have an idea of what I'm doing and what weights I used and how many reps from last week. ALSO: I had 3 rest days, yo! emoticon

Unfortunately, I still have my health issues but 3 rest days are marvelous and I remembered (although it has been years) that I'd occasionally (maybe more in Push? maybe in any circuit?) take off more than 1 rest in a row and the outcome was always: lifting way more than I'd otherwise expect!

Yesterday. my 1st exercise was something that honestly, I couldn't even do 6 reps on week 1 but I gave myself those couple deep breaths to eke out another rep, then repeated to reach 6. I KNEW that one almost killed me last week. I hoped to do 6 w/o a 'cheat.' I did SEVEN without cheats! Was it easy? CRIKEY, NO. I'm only lifting 13 little pounds in each hand but remember the whole CE program is about moving very slowly: 8 counts up, don't rest at top or bottom, 8 counts down.

The next exercise was a standard squat. They're done in the same slow style and I really try to go low so my thigh is parallel to the floor -- I may not be PARALLEL but that's my goal: did bodyweight OBVI and 42 total pounds of free weight load, yet still hit 8 reps. emoticon

I'd NEVER have thought I was ready for that. Now...if I perfectly follow the program, I'm probably only going to add 1 pound in each hand for this exercise next week because I had THREE REST DAYS IN A ROW!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

That's not the usual schedule:
