2/13/16 - Still here!

Saturday, February 13, 2016

I really meant to post a blog everyday, but it gets monotonous. I mean, what am I supposed to say?? Who wants to "listen" to my boring daily rambles anyway?? emoticon

I'm hanging in here, still turtling on the weight loss. Embrace your inner turtle!! emoticon

I've lost every week, so that's a plus. I didn't go though the typical "3 week stall" that many people who are losing weight go through, I'm very happy about that. When I look at the big picture, I'm pretty happy with my progress. 63.6 pounds in all and that's pretty impressive. I try not to look at how far I have to go, that's just depressing. It's much better to look at far I've come.

I'm still having major problems getting enough calories. Some people say I shouldn't worry....just make sure I got enough protein, not a lot of fat and not a lot of carbs, but the carbs and fat confuse me. No one really knows how much you should get. All over my support groups, people are as confused as I am. I'll figure it out I'm sure. I'm getting someone to help me figure out my macros and a fitness routine that I can manage with my chronic pain. Which by the way, my pain is lessened as I lose weight! I still wake up stiff and sore and go to bed stiff and sore, but not AS stiff and sore as I was 3 months ago!

Guess that's it for now...

    You're doing great!

Don't fear fat, it's essential to the body's healthy functioning, unlike carbs, which we can manufacture from fat or protein when we need to. Just be sure that you're getting good, natural, healthy fat: olive oil, coconut oil, grassfed butter (if you can find it and afford it), fat from pastured animals. It's all good. Salads are a great way to combine the best of the carb world with the best of the fat world. Drizzle that oil or sour cream or homemade mayo all over those greens and veggies! Many vitamins require fat to be absorbed, so there's a logical reason why we put it all over greens. It makes the healthy salad healthier! Just ditch the empty grain calories and focus on nutrient dense natural foods!

You're doing great! I deal with chronic pain too. On the carbs subject, you NEED complex carbs! Your brain runs on them. You want to stay away from simple, or refined carbs (i.e. sugar, refined flour, processed foods, etc.) Eat fruit & veggies! 😀
