Away for Easter

Tuesday, March 22, 2016

Tomorrow we're going away for Easter to stay with friends in the country. I'm definitely going to miss the gym and I'm worried that I won't get enough exercise and will have a lot of trouble counting calories throughout the trip.
The friends we're staying with don't know that my fiancé and I are counting calories and they plan on taking us out for dinner as well. I'm not sure how to calculate that, since in Australia restaurants aren't required to (and don't) tell you the nutritional content of their meals, nor can I count on SP to already have any of it, as all of the dining out information seems to be about American franchise restaurants. I think I'll just have to use common sense and "wing it" a bit, take educated guesses and whatnot, so I can at least attempt to keep up with it.
Exercising is going to be difficult also. The countryside is great for walks, but due to my illness, I essentially need to be very near to the house at all times. I can try and take multiple short walks throughout the day and hope they don't get fed up with me, wondering, "Why does Jess keep disappearing for 10 minutes at a time?" I suppose I could do laps of the property, but that would honestly bore the heck out of me. Perhaps I can do some yoga in the morning before anyone else is up.
I'm looking forward to the mini-break and I'm less bothered by these challenges and more excited, as this is the first time we will have really been out with life interrupting since we started calorie counting and since I joined the gym.

Well it turns out I couldn't do much of anything, as I strained something in my upper thigh at the gym before we left. I managed a grand total of 10 minutes on the elliptical and a few squats before it felt like needles of fire shooting through me. I wasn't able to walk much the whole trip.

You could always do things like squats, lunges, push ups, going up and down stair or stairs, use your surroundings, arm dips on park bench, jogging on spot, star jumps, Burpees etc
Just tell your friends your trying to lose weight, if their really your friends I'm sure they'll be supporting or at least understand.

    Happy Easter emoticon

Enjoy your break Jess. You're doing so well and, even if you blow it a bit while you're away, that's only going to be a temporary blip. It takes 3,500 extra calories to put on one pound so you're not going to do irreversible damage in 3 days, especially if you try to make healthy choices in the restaurant.

    Have a great time.

I would say enjoy your vacation, try walking if there isn't a gym. As for the food just watch your portions and at the restaurant see if they can't box half so you can take it home and maybe have for lunch or just be honest with your friends that you
