Well, This Sucks

Tuesday, April 12, 2016

You know, I went in to April with serious momentum. March was AMAZING and now April is kicking my butt!

Weigh in for today:
Weight: 167.9 (up 2.2 lbs for the month so far)
Body Fat: 36.5 (up .4 so far)
Body Water: 46.3 (down .2)
BMI: 31.7 (up .5).

What the CRAP is going on?? I use my Fitbit to track my calorie differential and this just does. Not. Make. Sense. According to my Fitbit, I have a -2089 differential for the month. Meaning, about half a pound's worth of loss. Plus, my Fitbit tends to underestimate my calorie burn for weight training.

I have been struggling a lot on getting my steps in during the work day. My job is very, very sedentary. If I want to go walk around, I have to clock out. I only get 1500 steps in during work days, which means I have to come home and get on the treadmill to get my steps in. I am going to have to figure out a way to run on less sleep so I can get up earlier and work out. Doing it after work sucks because I only get 3 waking hours in the evening with my kiddos on work days already, and don't want to spend them working out/showering.

On the plus side, I can seriously feel my biceps under the fat now. I tried a different weight training technique a few days ago: contract for 2 breaths, release for 4 breaths. HOLY CRAP that burned! Tabata is extremely hard, but since it is fast, the muscles don't burn as much. I saw an article about how this slower technique results in 30+% higher muscle growth. So, I have decided to incorporate it at least 2x/month. My arms were sore for 2 days!

Also, I am signing up today for my 8k. I have never run this race before. I did a 5.75 mile run on the treadmill the other day without problems, so I am confident that I can finish the race. This one has some trail work on it, which I have also never done during a race! I love running on the trails by the local lake, so I hopefully will be able to have a strong run.

Ugh, if only we didn't need sleep. How much more could we get DONE?! The weight gain is frustrating, but don't let it get to you too much. Increasing your mileage will help get a couple stubborn pounds off, but there is so much that can account for 2 pounds. I fluctuate that much from day to day depending on how much water I drank the day before.

Hang in there girl! I know it is super frustrating right now. Getting up earlier was definitely what worked for me when I had kids at home. Admittedly, I was exhausted by the end of the week, but that seemed to be the only way to fit it all in and it did work.

    The 8k sounds like fun!
