Hiking fixes everything

Friday, April 22, 2016

What a week at work! I even overslept and was late today. That's quite an accomplishment since I telecommute and my commute is a walk down the stairs. As I got up my cat came running up to me dropping a dead bird at my feet and proudly proclaiming his love for me. This pretty much summed up my entire week.

There has been lots of hiking and walking and running this week. Each day by the end I needed a release and hiking always replaces stress for me with a wonderful relaxed feeling allowing me to focus on more important things in life.

I found a new trail close to where we live which surprised me, just when I thought I had found all the trails here was a brand new slue of them only 10 mins from my door.

The trail was filled with bridges, mud and something new, frogs. It was fun to try and find them as they hid in the branches and leaves.

The trail we took was quite steep and very heavily treed, the views out to the valley were few and far between and very different from where we normally go.

By the time we got to the top all the stress from the day was completely gone and we finally got to the clearing. What a view. 4.5K uphill, it felt great.

There are more trails for us to explain here, looking forward to trying them all. They are all used for mountain biking which of course lead me to suggest to my husband we take up mountain biking which of course lead to my husband staring at me blanking. I'll take that as a solid maybe.

My eating has gotten back to normal this week but my body is still trying to sort itself out and get over all the processed foods I fed it. It's amazing how long that can stay in your system.

This weekend is the big birthday party for the twins, it's just hitting my daughter how fast this year went. It's a Pancake and Pyjama party and there are about 40 people coming. The menu has needless to say lots of pancake options but lots of healthy brunch items as well. We all bought new jammies to wear. What a great way to end a very hectic, very tiring week.

The twins are just so adorable! Do you just think in awe of how much your life has changed. Did you ever think back to a over a year ago - would you have thought then that hiking fixes everything? Back then, it was probably something else. LOL. Good for you!

Exercise, especially when done outdoors, is a great release for stress and frustrations. I know it helps me a lot too. Those pictures of the babies are cute! They look like they were having a blast. Sounds like the party will be good too!

Those are all beautiful photos. Love the girls with their cake! That open mouth smile! You live in the most perfect place for you. Did you have any idea there was that many hiking spots when you bought the house? Perfect! Ok I want to see a photo of the frogs now.....:) Went to a wedding last year where they had pancakes and a special "Pan Cake lady" That would toss them at you. Loads of fun and with healthy toppings they were ok for my eating plan. Great Idea!
